Today, most people choose invisible braces to straighten their teeth. Seton Dentist Dr. Jay Patel provides Invisalign and SureSmile clear aligners. Ask us about all the possibilities! Outdoor Dental, your Orthodontics provider in Calgary SE.
When you have misaligned teeth, you probably would like to straighten them. You could visit a typical Orthodontist who might recommend a mouth full of unattractive wire and bracket braces.
A smile with uneven, crooked, and/or misaligned teeth is usually not the most confident smile. Adding wire braces to the picture will not improve your confidence at all. Some people might say: "Hey, don't pay attention to what people think or say about your smile!", but that's easier said than done.
Serious alternatives for conventional wire/bracket braces are clear aligners like Invisalign or SureSmile. These "invisible braces" provide an aesthetic advantage: Exactly, they are almost invisible. Which is making it easier for the patient to wear them!
Invisible braces are not necessarily better or more effective than traditional braces. It is also not recommended to treat more complex orthodontic cases with clear aligners. However, for today's patient who prefers a teeth straightening solution without the wire/bracket braces smile, Invisilign or SureSmile are a great alternative.
Clear aligners also tend to provide faster treatment. While traditional braces require approximately 18-24, the average duration of clear aligner treatment is somewhere around 12 months.
NOTE: Outdoor Dental can only speak from its own experience here. We have talked to many of our patients about this, and the majority clearly stated that clear aligners are less painful. There might be some discomfort during the first days of wearing the trays, but that experience is definitely reported as less painful than the first days of wearing metal braces.
Also, patients have mentioned that traditional wire/bracket braces can cause painful sores on the inside of the cheeks, because of the metal rubbing against them. This is one of the reasons why kids try to take them out themselves.
